Heat shrink solder butt connectors join two wires without a crimp tool. Overlap the stripped ends inside the sleeve and apply heat. The solder ring, which contains flux, melts into the strands, the glue rings at each end seal against the cable insulation, and the polyethylene sleeve shrinks over the joint. Krimpterm rates them at 600V max.
Available in 4 colours, in packs of 10 or 100. Each colour covers a wire range: clear for 0.25 to 0.34mm², red for 0.5 to 1.5mm², blue for 1.5 to 2.5mm² and yellow for 4 to 6mm². The sleeve is translucent, so you can see whether the solder has flowed right through before the joint goes back into the loom.
