Product Description

The Portwest FP41 10m Retractable Fall Arrest Block comprises a retractable lifeline made of 4.8mm wire rope, stored on a spring-loaded reel within a protective housing. An inertia brake mechanism allows the lifeline to extract and retract smoothly to accommodate the user's body movements, and it includes a swivel snap hook with a double safety lock and fall indicator. It's available in Black.

Frequently Asked Questions

What certifications does the FP41 carry?

The FP41 is independently certified (SATRA Technology Europe Ltd, cert 2777/11880-03/E01-01) to EN 360:2002 for retractable type fall arresters and EN 362:2004 for connectors.

What is the FP41 used for?

It's a fall arrest device for work at height, designed to stop a fall almost immediately if the user loses their footing, using an inertia brake within the reel housing rather than relying on a fixed-length lanyard.

What is the maximum user weight for the FP41?

Our data doesn't specify a maximum user weight for the FP41. Always check the rating printed on the unit or in the manufacturer's instructions before use, and never exceed it.

Does the FP41 need to be used with a harness?

Yes. The swivel snap hook on the FP41 is designed to connect to the dorsal (back) D-ring of a full body harness certified to EN 361, it isn't a standalone fall protection system.

Do I need training to use the FP41?

Yes. Anyone using fall arrest equipment for work at height should be trained and assessed as competent under the Work at Height Regulations, and should understand rescue procedures in case of a fall arrest event.

How is the FP41 inspected and maintained?

Fall arrest blocks should be visually checked before every use for damage to the housing, lifeline, hook and fall indicator, and should undergo a formal periodic inspection by a competent person at least annually, or sooner if the manufacturer specifies. A block that has arrested a fall must be taken out of service.
